The question that actually runs a life, a team, and a business is: what role should AI play in this — and what stays mine? The Compass answers it. It doesn’t do the work for you. You take a bearing with it, the way you would with a real one: read it, then move.
Strip everything away and it’s two questions. Answer both, and you’ve got your bearing.
If what you typed is really a project, break the idea open first — a “launch” hides who it’s for, what it costs, what the copy says, and go or no-go. Take a bearing on one piece at a time. If you skip this, you’ll still do it later anyway, when things go sideways.
Does this actually need my judgment?
The first question finds the decision hiding inside the work: the judgment of what actually matters here.
Am I adversely impacted if AI gets it wrong?
The second question prices the consequences: what it costs you the day AI gets it wrong. Price the stakes off what carries your name, not off the size of your plans. I once sized a whole book off my small plans for it, and it came back printed with my name on the cover.
